Calcutta Walk - 2
58Discover the early morning face of your city :walk through the busiest districts of Calcutta
I walk every morning in our locality, mostly through the known roads and lanes. It is a 45 minutes walk, followed by a few 'Yogasan' to tackle my BP and sugar level.
Now , I am discovering the merit of walking in different parts of Calcutta to discover a face of the city that I have not seen earlier. I have walked with Iftekar Hassan of calcuttawalks.com,with Kanad sanyal, my friend and his young son , who is interested in this City's history as well as with my wife.
These walks are good experience and I capture the moments in my camera.
On 25/11/07, my wife Ruby and I took our cameras and reached Town Hall in the Business district of Calcutta to walk along the footpaths of 'Rajbhavan' (erstwhile Viceroy's residence) and in "Sal-Piyalir Bon', a Nature park being built in the centre of business district of Calcutta. This was my 2nd visit to this upcoming Nature park.
Many old buildings of this business district were constructed during the period of British Raj. Rays from early morning sun gave a soft appearance to the otherwise dusty buildings .Sunlight peeping through the branches of the few trees around, waking up the District , taxi drivers seeping tea in make-shift stalls, a few cars and buses roaring through the near-empty roads......not the usual scene. But,we did not hear chirping of birds till we reached the Nature park under development.
I plan to walk through other areas of Calcutta during this winter since it is easier to walk for an hour or more during the winter.Photodiaries of these 'walks' will be interesting read.... now as well as later.
A few photos ( a few taken by my wife) from my Calcutta Walks are here. I look forward to photodiaries of other Hubbers .

Leon,
I agree that that we ,citizens of Calcutta, do not know about many places of Calcutta.
